After getting into Yang Bo's car, South Phoenix felt tired. The car was quiet, making it a perfect place for sleep. She leaned against the car door and soon drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, she found herself lying on a soft bed. The bed was large and the bedding was incredibly comfortable, like a cloud.
She hurriedly pulled back the covers and realized that she was now wearing a soft, white nightgown.
She jumped out of bed and opened the curtains to see that it was still dark outside. However, she seemed to be in an unfamiliar place.
She put on some slippers and opened the door to her room. Outside the door, Yang Bo was waiting.
"Assistant Yang."
"Miss."
South Phoenix asked directly, "Assistant Yang, where is this? What about my clothes and phone?"
Yang Bo nodded and replied, "Miss, this is Lord Wu's vineyard, and he is waiting for you in his study. As for your clothes, we've provided you with more comfortable ones for sleeping, and your phone has been temporarily confiscated."
South Phoenix exclaimed, "Confiscated my phone? Are you trying to scam me or kidnap me?"
Yang Bo smiled and said, "You're overthinking it."
South Phoenix angrily retorted, "Am I overthinking it? You brought me here and confiscated my phone. What's your next move?"
Yang Bo continued to smile and explained, "Miss, we've invited you to stay here for a while."
South Phoenix asked, "Why did you bring me here? Why me?"
Yang Bo answered, "Miss, you bear a striking resemblance to someone our Lord once knew. When he learned of your existence, he came from the Imperial City specifically to meet you."
He paused for a moment and added earnestly, "Miss, our Lord has fond memories of that person. If possible, he hopes you can accompany him."
South Phoenix thought for a moment and then asked, "Fond memories? You mean I'm a substitute for your wealthy CEO's past lover, a white moonlight?"
Yang Bo nodded, implying that she was correct.
South Phoenix frowned and said, "This is a joke, right?"
She had just become an obstacle to Bao Shen's search for his white moonlight, and now she had become another man's substitute for his lost love?
She wondered if she had some sort of jinx with the term "white moonlight."
The problem was that she had no interest in being anyone's substitute.
Following Yang Bo to Lord Wu's study, he brought her in and announced her arrival.
In the grand study, which exuded an ancient, classical charm, Lord Wu, the enigmatic and feared figure of the Western City's wealthy elite, was standing there, his pitch-black and profound eyes fixated on a painting he had purchased for billions— "Cliff."
South Phoenix managed to calm herself.
"I heard your rib is broken?" she asked.
Lord Wu turned his head slightly when he heard her voice, and his cold and gloomy face glanced at her.
"It's broken," he replied.
Broken? South Phoenix was taken aback.
Lord Wu turned his attention back to the painting.
"I don't believe it's broken. I didn't use much force," South Phoenix argued.
The man smirked contemptuously.
It seemed that it was indeed a setup.
She continued, "How much compensation do you want? Give me back my phone, and I'll transfer the money to you."
Lord Wu heard this and found it amusing. He even laughed out loud before retorting, "Do you think I need your money?"
South Phoenix was at a loss for words.
Lord Wu then turned and said, "Come here."
He reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her forcefully until she was sitting on his lap.
South Phoenix shivered as her whole body trembled.
What did this mean?
"Tell me the story behind this painting," he ordered, his voice low.
"I don't know; I didn't paint it," South Phoenix denied.
"Good girl, tell me, is the person jumping off the cliff in this painting a man or a woman?" he asked with a seductive, low voice.
South Phoenix's gaze wavered, and she reluctantly replied, "It's a young man."
She was emotionally shaken, her breathing uneven.
"Oh?" Lord Wu raised an eyebrow and continued, "And these footprints here, do they belong to a man or a woman?"
South Phoenix shook her head, unwilling to answer.
"Tell me, why didn't she save him?" His voice grew more sensual, and South Phoenix was defenseless.
Why didn't she save him?
South Phoenix was lost in thought, her mind in chaos.
Why didn't she save him?
Lord Wu's arm tightened around her, and she couldn't move.
