Chapter 20: Lord Rong Treats Her as a Stand-In
Nan Huang stared at him in shock, watching as he let go of her and straightened his tall and imposing figure. His perfect fingers picked up a handmade high-end Western suit jacket and put it on.
Unrestrained, with an air of dominance.
It seemed as though he no longer paid her any attention as he took a step and left the vineyard with Yang Bo.
Nan Huang walked to the window and stood by the study window, watching the two of them leave. Only then did she lift her head to look at the painting once again.
A cliff.
Two people on a cliff.
Or should she say it was the darkest place in her heart?
Lord Rong hung this painting in the most prominent place in the study.
Why did he do that?
She raised her head and saw the surveillance cameras in every corner of the study. She walked out hastily.
It seemed that there were surveillance cameras in every corner of this mansion.
The signs indicated that they were recently installed. Were they installed for her?
Was that man watching her every move through these cameras?
A sense of tension and oppression welled up in Nan Huang's mind.
As she turned around, she saw several maids of the vineyard waiting outside the door.
"Miss." A slightly older maid approached cautiously. "Are you hungry, Miss? The kitchen has prepared some supper for you."
The familiar address made Nan Huang's heart skip a beat. She stared at the woman in front of her for a moment.
"Eat something." Nan Huang said.
Sitting at the dining table, sipping a light sweet soup, Nan Huang surveyed the surveillance cameras in various corners. Finally, she glared at one of them angrily. Then she turned to the maid and asked, "What's your name?"
The woman replied, "I'm called Tian, Miss. You can call me Tian Mama."
Nan Huang scooped a spoonful of sweet soup and asked, "Tian Mama, did Lord Rong mention when he would return my phone to me?"
Tian Mama replied nervously, "Miss, Lord Rong doesn't allow..."
"Not allow what? Not allow me to contact the outside world?" Nan Huang stared at her. "Are you afraid of him?"
How could one not be afraid? Lord Rong of the Rongshi Group had a notorious reputation. When he went mad, who in the mansion hadn't been beaten?
Tian Mama was cautious and fearful. She just wanted to avoid any mistakes and didn't dare to say much.
"So, you are afraid of him?" Nan Huang suddenly found the soup in her bowl unappetizing.
She stood up, ready to go upstairs.
"Miss, where are you going?" Tian Mama asked, catching up to her.
Nan Huang replied, "I'm tired. I want to sleep."
Lying on the soft bed, Nan Huang realized that she was no different from being confined. She lifted her head and looked at the several cameras in the room.
She glared at them angrily for a moment, then turned over and went to sleep.
On the other side, Lord Rong, who had rushed out and then rushed back, was staring at his phone. He had received all the glances Nan Huang had given through the phone.
He leaned back in his chair, his pitch-black eyes fixated on the phone as if he were watching something extraordinary.
"She wants her phone?" he asked his assistant.
"Yes."
Nan Huang's phone was still in his possession, and he had traced the incoming calls to be from Song Chu, Song Chu's number.
Lord Rong's face darkened.
Did she want her phone to contact Song Chu?
"Go home."
"Yes, Lord Rong."
The black luxury car returned to the mansion. Lord Rong, in his high-end black shoes, walked on the well-maintained wooden floor, and the sound gradually faded. Then, the door opened, and the sound of dripping water came from the bathroom.
The bed sank slightly as a hot, hard body approached, and he pulled the woman who had been sleeping on the bed into his arms.
Her body was soft and delicate, and it seemed that he hadn't experienced this kind of touch in years. His hands tensed slightly, as if he were afraid of hurting her with a little pressure.
He relaxed his limbs and closed his eyes. After a while, his breathing evened out, and he fell asleep.
The next morning, Nan Huang woke up feeling somewhat late. Because she had been held by Lord Rong as if he were an octopus while sleeping, her whole body ached.
She sat up suddenly and realized that she was under pressure. She opened her eyes and saw Lord Rong, the distinguished man, next to her. She felt an oppressive feeling—did this man really take her as a substitute for his unrequited love?
Lord Rong, a powerful figure in the imperial city, had a reputation that was unparalleled. If she were still the Nan family's young miss, she would have some means to contend with him. However, at present, she was just Ye Nan Huang, with no power to fight back.
She couldn't continue like this.
The sunlight pierced through the curtains and fell on the pure white bedding. Lord Rong opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was the fair face of the woman next to him.
Her long, curled eyelashes moved gently with her breath, which was almost itching his heart.
She was sleeping peacefully, still unaware.
A soft and delicate touch pressed closely against his body, and the warm scent of her filled his nose.
The man's gaze slowly moved to her rosy lips.
He squinted dangerously.
With a handsome face, he leaned in and lightly bit her lips. In the next moment, a surge of scorching heat flowed straight to his lower abdomen, making him separate from her in an instant.
The man cursed inwardly, sat up, looked at her for a moment, and then got up and left.
When Nan Huang woke up again, it was already quite late. Because she had been held by someone like an octopus while sleeping the previous night, she felt sore all over her body.
She had just sat up when someone knocked on the door, and she responded. Tian Mama entered the room.
"Miss."
Nan Huang asked, "Do you have any clothes that fit me?"
"Yes, Miss. We have prepared some clothes for you."
A set of home clothes was brought in, and Nan Huang took the clothes, washed up, and changed.
After Nan Huang had finished tidying up, Tian Mama said, "Miss, breakfast is ready."
Nan Huang walked to the dining room, and when she came downstairs, she noticed that Lord Rong was also present.
Breakfast consisted of simple congee and eggs. Lord Rong's congee and eggs in front of him were untouched. Nan Huang couldn't help but wonder if this man was waiting for her to eat?
Nan Huang sat at the dining table opposite him and looked at him for a moment.
The man was dressed meticulously, with his white shirt buttoned up all the way to the top, and the cuffs were also fastened. His lips, red as vermilion, were lightly pursed, and his mood seemed
to have improved from yesterday.
Seeing Nan Huang start to peel her egg, the man, with his perfectly slender hand, also took an egg and began to peel it leisurely.
"What are you looking at?" Lord Rong glanced at Nan Huang.
Nan Huang's mouth twitched. She thought, "How would I know what I'm looking at if I don't see you looking at me?"
Her hand paused for a moment as she peeled the egg, and she asked, "Lord Rong, how do you plan to deal with me?"
"Deal with you? Do you want to leave?" After speaking, Lord Rong's good mood seemed to be instantly shattered. "You want to leave? Don't even think about it!"
Nan Huang asked, "If you forcibly keep me here, aren't you worried? Will my husband come looking for me, will my family come looking for me, and..."
Lord Rong's icy gaze stared at her. "And what about Song Chu? Do you believe that I can kill him right now?"
Nan Huang's lips twitched. She hadn't even thought about Song Chu.
This Lord Rong was really quite strange. He didn't seem to care when she had a husband, but he was surprisingly concerned about a friend she had just met. He even mentioned him by name.
After careful consideration, she decided to make a concession for now.
"Lord Rong."
He leaned back slightly, and his deep eyes fixed on her. "You can call me a madman."
"..." She had never met anyone who asked the other person to call them a madman.
"Madman."
With just one address, Lord Rong's eyebrows and eyes relaxed, and he seemed to feel pleased.
"I am trapped here without my phone and computer. It will be difficult to endure the time." Nan Huang said sincerely.
Lord Rong's eyes were deep. He said, "There's a TV at home, a vast vineyard, and I will try to accompany you as much as possible."
"..."
She didn't really want him to accompany her.
It really wasn't necessary.
