Having lost her freedom and feeling tightly monitored, South Phoenix was a bit annoyed.
She lazily reclined in her office chair, her legs propped up.
She gazed at the surveillance camera and asked Lord Rong Five, "I wonder what kind of person Lord Rong's 'White Moonlight' is?"
Lord Rong Five paused, glanced at Yang Bo, who was feeling a bit bewildered.
"What 'White Moonlight'?" Lord Rong Five asked South Phoenix.
Yang Bo's whole body seemed to shiver upon hearing this.
South Phoenix continued nonchalantly, "I acted as a stand-in for Bao Shen for a year, or rather, not even a stand-in, but merely someone pretending to be his 'White Moonlight.' Let me think... Bao Shen's 'White Moonlight' likes to wear white clothes, puts on an incredibly fake makeup, and what I couldn't stand the most was that she even liked white stockings... so I followed suit every day. So, Lord Rong's 'White Moonlight'? What does she like?"
South Phoenix lightly chuckled and said, "I promise to meet all of Lord Rong's requirements."
As her voice gradually filtered through, Lord Rong Five's face turned terrifyingly dark, and his anger seemed to reach a certain point.
"Lord Five," Yang Bo was now truly frightened. He wondered if he had said something wrong, if he had jeopardized his job.
"South! Phoenix!" Lord Rong Five gritted his teeth.
South Phoenix could tell that he wasn't pleased. Well, hearing that the person she had found to replace her had also served as a stand-in for someone else wouldn't put anyone in a good mood.
South Phoenix's clogged-up heart finally cleared a bit thanks to his reaction.
She felt quite content.
With a snap, she hung up the phone. South Phoenix thought Lord Rong Five might be on the verge of throwing his phone.
She picked up her phone, got up, and went to the bathroom.
Lord Rong Five was eccentric and borderline insane, but at least he hadn't reached the point of installing surveillance cameras in the bathroom.
In the bathroom, she sat on the toilet, and the live streaming of the Go game continued on her phone. She had set it up so that the live stream displayed the unchanging Go game, while she switched to the background and logged into another website.
If anyone expected her to contact someone for help, she didn't have that intention.
Who could she contact? Xie Yu? Xu Qun? Song Chu? Or Xie Ziran? These people, who could endure the wrath of Lord Rong Five after helping her escape?
She couldn't possibly contact Bao Shen either. Apart from dealing with the divorce certificate, she had no connection to him.
So, even though South Phoenix had a plan to escape, she didn't intend to seek help.
She logged into a website and, using that website as a gateway, entered another one. With successive jumps between platforms, she wrote a series of code and finally entered the website she wanted to access.
"Done."
This was an international technology website known only to insiders.
This website often posted various technology bounty tasks. There were tasks worth just tens of thousands and valuable ones worth tens of millions.
Many hacking experts and tech giants logged into the website to accept advanced tasks.
Although South Phoenix had a secret account with billions at her disposal, she didn't want to use it now.
She didn't want to log into that account or use the money inside it.
So, right now, she needed to make some money.
South Phoenix logged into her tech account named "PhoenixSky," and it lit up.
This account hadn't been logged into for a year, and she saw numerous unread private messages from clients in the backend, many of which had expired a long time ago.
Without paying any attention to them, she went straight to the task page.
There were numerous tasks, varying in difficulty and completion times.
South Phoenix quickly browsed through them and accepted six simple tasks that could be completed quickly.
Completed quickly.
The time for the tasks to be processed was equivalent to her sitting on the toilet for a while, maybe half an hour.
After completing the six tasks, South Phoenix checked the time on her phone; it had just been over half an hour.
She hung up the phone, flushed the toilet, and left the bathroom.
On the way, her phone's Go game live stream hadn't stopped, and it gave no indication that she had done something else in the bathroom.
The accounts for this half-hour's work should arrive within the day. Six tasks, totaling over a million.
Once she earned enough capital, she would directly enter the capital market. She didn't need to use too much of her brain; she would just follow whatever investment Lord Rong Five was making and earn enough.
Perfect.
A smile curved on South Phoenix's lips, and her mood became even more delightful.
Time passed quickly, and it was already seven in the evening.
South Phoenix hadn't eaten much for lunch, and now her stomach was growling. She asked the housekeeper, "Is there no dinner tonight?"
The housekeeper hurriedly replied, "Miss, would you like to have a light snack first? Lord Five will be back soon."
"Are you saying Lord Five is going to have dinner with me?" South Phoenix inquired.
The housekeeper nodded, "Yes, Miss. Lord Five ordered that dinner be prepared in the kitchen."
As they were talking, the courtyard of the estate lit up, and South Phoenix looked up to see several cars driving into the compound.
The cars stopped, and the men inside got out.
One of the men was tall and imposing, with a tall, slender figure and long legs. His long strides exuded an aura of dominance.
His face bore his usual arrogance and stubbornness.
He adjusted his cufflinks and then turned to see South Phoenix inside the villa.
One glance from him made South Phoenix shiver.
No way, it had been hours since the phone call earlier in the day; was he coming to settle scores with her now?
The man walked inside with long strides. Behind him, Yang Bo and several bodyguards each took their designated positions.
The man's aura was overpowering, and his presence was intense. He glanced at South Phoenix and spoke in a deep voice, "Hungry?"
South Phoenix pretended to be nonchalant and said, "I'm alright. Skipping dinner can help with weight loss."
The man repeated, "You, on a diet?"
South Phoenix pursed her lips.
"Come, sit."
South Phoenix sat across from Lord Rong Five, and the table was quickly set with seven dishes and a soup.
South Phoenix raised an eyebrow, "So many dishes, are we expecting guests?"
"Just the two of us," Lord Rong Five replied. He pushed the black pepper chicken thigh toward her.
South Phoenix stared at the black pepper chicken thigh for a moment, feeling a bit startled.
Lord Rong Five saw that she hadn't touched her chopsticks for a while and furrowed his brow. "Don't like it?"
"It's not that."
This dish used to be a common meal for her when she was younger. But for some reason, she had stopped eating it a long time ago.
Now, with this dish suddenly appearing in front of her, she felt a bit taken aback.
She picked up a piece of chicken thigh but felt a lump in her throat.
She put it down and decided to eat something else instead.
Lord Rong Five noticed but didn't say anything.
"You spent the whole day in the study, going through many of my documents," he said.
"Is Lord Five here to settle scores with me for going through your study?" South Phoenix asked.
He had been watching the surveillance cameras all along, so if he didn't want her to enter his study, he could have stopped her at any time.
But he hadn't.
Lord Rong Five snorted. "I've told you that you can go anywhere in this estate."
South Phoenix remained silent.
He continued, "I want to know what you were looking for after spending the whole day. Wouldn't it be easier to ask me directly instead of wasting so much effort?"
