Chapter 30: Bao Shen's Unbearable and Breathless Moment

Chapter 30: Bao Shen's Unbearable and Breathless Moment

Nanhuang leaned back in her seat, watching as Mr. Rong flexed his injured hand and gripped the steering wheel with the one that wasn't injured.

After pondering for a while, she finally asked, "Why did you rush in?"

Mr. Rong snorted softly. "I thought you, this heartless woman, wouldn't care about that."

Nanhuang gazed at the scenery outside the window. "You saved my life, so I should repay you in some way."

Mr. Rong remained silent, waiting for her to continue.

"If you really need a stand-in, I can do it as a way to repay you for saving my life."

Mr. Rong furrowed his brows.

Nanhuang felt a bit tired and continued lazily, "But I don't want to be trapped in a cage. If you insist that I live in your grapevine manor, you'll have to agree to some conditions."

"What conditions?" Mr. Rong asked.

"I'll tell you later."

Upon hearing this, Mr. Rong used his injured hand to light a cigarette and took a drag.

"Alright." After exhaling a smoke ring, his voice was low and clear, "Considering you sent me a message. I agree."

Nanhuang froze.

Earlier, on her way to the chemical factory, she had opened Mr. Rong's dedicated contact phone and sent him a message directly.

"Western City suburban chemical factory."

She also sent a location pin.

At that time, even though she had successfully escaped the grapevine manor, she had sought help only from Mr. Rong.

Turning her back to him, Nanhuang curled up in her seat and closed her eyes.

She vaguely heard Mr. Rong undoing his seatbelt and then felt a somewhat dusty and male-scented piece of clothing being draped over her.

After resting for a while, Nanhuang woke up and glanced around. The car had stopped, and Mr. Rong was smoking.

"Are we here?"

"Just another mile."

Nanhuang sat up, and the black suit jacket slipped off her. She noticed that Mr. Rong was only wearing a thin white shirt, and he was leaning towards the window, letting the cold breeze blow in.

"Why did you stop?"

Mr. Rong turned back, and he even leaned forward slightly, exuding a sense of pressure. He then pursed his lips. "Waiting for you to wake up."

"..."

He threw away the cigarette butt and closed the window. "Alright, let's go."

Once the car had come to a halt, Nanhuang realized that Xie Yu, Ye Guangda, Li Yiliu, and her daughter Ye Xinyao, as well as Bao Shen and Mu Yun, had already arrived.

During this time, Xie Yu and Ye Guangda had argued everything they could, and Ye Guangda had even knelt down and made a scene. But in the end, the divorce had been finalized.

The divorce was straightforward. They had settled the joint assets between Xie Yu and Ye Guangda, and Xie Yu had given everything to him.

After all, apart from a villa, there was only Ye's Shoe Company left, and the extent of its losses was unclear.

Xie Yu's family's belongings naturally followed her as she left.

Seeing that the deal was done, Nanhuang couldn't help but curl her lips.

Over the years, how much had Ye Guangda relied on Xie Yu? He probably didn't even know himself.

He had betrayed Xie Yu for over twenty years, and now that Xie Yu, the original wife, had left him, how long could he hold out? It remained to be seen.

After Nanhuang got out of the car, Bao Shen caught up with her. He composed himself for a moment and then said, "Ye Nanhuang, I hope we can both calm down and reconsider this. Divorce is not a trivial matter."

"When there's a breakdown in a relationship, divorce is necessary. No need for further consideration," Nanhuang replied.

"You do have feelings for me, Ye Nanhuang! You love me, and there are feelings between us!" Bao Shen argued.

Nanhuang curled her lips. It was truly regrettable. She loved him as Ye Nanhuang, but Ye Nanhuang had already been pushed to her death by him.

"I no longer love you."

"It's impossible!"

"I've said it many times, Bao Shen, stop bothering me."

Bao Shen was unwilling. "I know I've done wrong, but I can apologize and make amends. Please forgive me."

Mr. Rong sneered. "I've treated her so well, and she can't even be bothered with me. You're so handsome, do you think she'd look at you? Bao, give yourself some dignity and accept the divorce."

Nanhuang glanced at Mr. Rong with speechless gratitude.

Bao Shen's face grew even darker.

"Sshh, Shen Ge..." Mu Yun approached him with a look of sadness.

"Let go." Bao Shen's voice was weak. Mu Yun didn't release him, and Bao Shen lost his patience. "I said, let me go!"

Why had he pursued Mu Yun so persistently?

Because five years ago, she had risked her life to save him.

At that time, he had been on the verge of losing consciousness, and in his semi-conscious state, he felt like there was a fiery goddess pulling him out of danger, all the while saying, "Bao Classmate, don't give up, don't give up..."

That faint, dreamlike voice had lit up his life when he was young.

When he regained his consciousness, he saw Mu Yun and learned that she had saved him. From that moment on, he had resolved to treat her well, no matter what she did.

But did he truly love Mu Yun?

Did he really love her?

She had been indecisive, holding onto him while also marrying someone else abroad. After her failed marriage, she had come back and gotten him drunk before seducing him.

She hadn't given him a chance to think; she had placed him directly on the hot coals.

Now, in hindsight, what had he done?

He had to protect Mu Yun because of the debt of gratitude for saving his life. But what should he do about the night they had slept together while intoxicated?

But now, he realized he loved Ye Nanhuang. So, what should he do?

Days and nights of torment had finally led to the divorce office.

When they signed the papers and received the green booklet, Bao Shen felt like he was in a dream.

Mu Yun supported him and said, "Shen Ge, after the divorce, we can start anew."

"Leave me alone." He said weakly. "Let me be alone for a while."

Nanhuang picked up the green booklet, raised an eyebrow in a smile, and then looked at Bao Shen.

"By the way, since we've come to this point, there's something I need to tell you."

Bao Shen looked up at

her, surprised. Was she so happy about the divorce?

Bao Shen found it even harder to breathe.

"Five years ago, in the Western City's A Building shopping mall, I left behind a golden figurine. Do you remember it?"

Bao Shen looked at her in shock. "How do you know about that golden figurine?! It's impossible, how could you know? Even Mu Yun didn't know!"

"As expected, it was at your place."

Nanhuang sighed and smiled.

"On that day, I won the championship in the Golden Boy and Jade Girl Art Competition. The trophy was that golden figurine. It's on record; you can check it."

"After the competition, I wanted to treat myself, so I went to the mall to buy a cup of milk tea."

"But for some reason, the mall caught fire. While I was escaping, I saw a classmate. I recognized him instantly; he went to the same school as me."

Nanhuang curled her lips into a smile.

"I pulled him out step by step. My milk tea was spilled on him when he bumped into me. Strangely, even though the fire that day was no smaller than today's, I didn't feel scared."

"I only had one thought in my mind—I had to save him."
