Chapter 37: Lord Rong's Ever-changing Mood
Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes fate. When Nan Huang met Song Yan, it was their destiny.
As for the things she had already uncovered, whether they believed it or could change their fate, that was up to them.
She couldn't control it anymore.
Nan Huang put this matter aside and thought of Lord Rong helping her solve the registration difficulty. She took out her phone and sent a few words.
Nan Huang: The matter is resolved.
Nan Huang: Thank you.
Nan Huang looked at her phone. Five messages completed.
In the future, each message could be even shorter, splitting one sentence into two.
Hmm.
She felt that her attitude was a bit dismissive. Perhaps she wasn't a qualified stand-in for Lord Rong's Baiyueguang.
Thinking of this, Nan Huang decided to make a phone call.
After dialing, it was answered almost instantly.
The speed of the answer was so fast that Nan Huang was taken aback.
"Little one," Lord Rong's voice on the other end carried a hint of suppressed amusement.
He had been typing something when the call came in and was startled, so he answered directly.
"It's lunchtime, Lord Rong, what are you having for lunch?" Nan Huang casually found a topic.
What to eat?
Lord Rong had never thought about that question, so he checked the takeout menu.
"What are you having?" Lord Rong asked when he couldn't find the menu.
"I'll eat at the school cafeteria, it's clean, healthy, and cheap."
Eating at the cafeteria?
Lord Rong started to calculate.
"I'll have cafeteria food for lunch too." His tone carried a hint of pride.
"..."
Nan Huang said, "Well, I'm going to eat now. Afterward, I'll give you a call."
With that call, she completed three phone calls and five text messages. She could focus on studying in the afternoon.
Lord Rong, on the other hand, didn't think the same way. He replied with a simple "Okay," then hung up and stared at his phone in a daze.
After lunch, he would receive the next phone call.
Hmm. The next call!
Thinking of this, Lord Rong got up from his desk, called Yang Bo, took the elevator down to the company cafeteria on the third floor.
This was the West City branch of the Rong Corporation, and not many people recognized Lord Rong's appearance. Employees were dining individually, but the cafeteria manager recognized Lord Rong. So, upon seeing Lord Rong and Yang Bo, he became nervous.
"Lord Rong, Assistant Yang, what brings you to the cafeteria?" The cafeteria manager quickly approached them.
Lord Rong smiled faintly and said, "We're here to eat."
Yang Bo, looking at Lord Rong in amazement, thought, Is Lord Rong being more approachable today?
"In that case, I'll have the kitchen prepare a few dishes for Mr. Rong and Assistant Yang," the cafeteria manager said with a smile.
"No need," Lord Rong stopped him and then joined the line with the crowd.
"Do we stand in line here? How do we pay?" Lord Rong asked softly.
Yang Bo answered Lord Rong's questions one by one. "Sir, company employees have their own cafeteria accounts, and a varying amount of money is deposited into them each month. You can use your account to make purchases in the cafeteria. We stand in line here, and we'll swipe our accounts at the front."
Quite a few female employees noticed them and started making admiring comments.
"He's so handsome; our company has such a handsome man."
"He's even more handsome than a celebrity; he's almost unreal."
"So handsome! Did he look at me? Do you think he noticed me?"
Lord Rong asked, "Is the food in the cafeteria expensive?"
The female employee he asked was momentarily stunned.
A handsome guy is talking to me, ahh, I might faint!
"It's not expensive at all," the flustered female employee replied.
Lord Rong then turned to another male employee. "Is the cafeteria food expensive?"
The male employee was about to get his food and didn't recognize the cafeteria manager, Lord Rong, or Yang Bo. He honestly answered, "It's not too expensive, but there's one issue: the prices are the same for meat and vegetarian dishes, so I feel like eating vegetarian isn't cost-effective. I end up eating meat every day, and it's raising my cholesterol levels."
Lord Rong pondered this.
In that case, it couldn't be considered "clean, healthy, and cheap" anymore.
Lord Rong's company cafeteria couldn't even compete with a university cafeteria?
He had a meeting to attend later.
Thinking of this, Lord Rong gave some instructions to the cafeteria manager.
The cafeteria manager was nervous, constantly saying, "Yes, yes, we'll make improvements right away."
Lord Rong actually lined up for food like the employees, and Yang Bo and the cafeteria manager followed suit. The three of them sat at a table and began eating.
Lord Rong kept an eye on his phone as he ate.
He wondered if the little one had finished eating and what she had eaten.
Just as he finished a piece of meat, his phone rang, causing Lord Rong to tense up and even drop his chopsticks.
He steadied himself, picked up his phone, cleared his throat, and answered the call.
"Hello."
Beside him, the cafeteria manager, who had been anxiously watching, perked up when he heard Lord Rong answer the call. He couldn't believe it; did Lord Rong just smile?
He must have smiled!
If he told the other company leaders that Lord Rong had smiled, they wouldn't believe it.
"Fool, I'm done eating, are you finished?" Nan Huang asked.
Lord Rong looked at the half-eaten meal in front of him and nodded. "I'm done."
Nan Huang said, "You didn't sleep well last night, did you? After you finish eating, you should rest."
She's concerned about him!
"Alright, I'll rest in a bit."
Lord Rong suddenly thought that it might be a good idea to let the little one go to school. As long as the phone calls and messages were in place, everything was worth looking forward to.
Lord Rong furrowed his brow and asked, "Do you have a place to nap at school?"
"Yes, we have dormitories," Nan Huang replied after looking around. "It's a four-person dormitory, quite nice."
"A four-person dormitory? Do you have roommates?" Lord Rong inquired.
Nan Huang approached the dormitory and looked around. "Not right now. I'm in my fourth year, and most of my roommates are probably out on internships."
She wasn't entirely sure; after all, Ye Nanhuang had rarely visited the school after getting married, and she had only taken over this body a few days ago.
Lord Rong's mood sank slightly as he continued, his tone subtly tinged with a trace of sourness, "I haven't seen your dormitory yet."
"You can't enter the girls' dormitory," Nan Huang responded after
giving it some thought. "How about this? When no one's around tomorrow, I'll take a couple of pictures to show you."
"Why does it have to be tomorrow?" Lord Rong asked.
Because she had already completed five messages with five phone calls today, it would be better to have material for tomorrow's messages.
Thinking this way, Lord Rong naturally guessed her intention.
Five messages were indeed too few.
"I'm feeling tired now, so I want to take a nap," Nan Huang said.
After ending the call with Nan Huang, Lord Rong looked at his phone and felt an emptiness in his heart.
It was only noon, but there were no more phone calls to look forward to, no more messages to expect.
He felt uncomfortable.
The cafeteria manager noticed Lord Rong's sudden change in mood and became worried that he had done something wrong and might lose his job.
Yang Bo gave him a reassuring look, indicating that there was no need to worry.
Yang Bo sighed. Lord Rong's mood swings were even more severe than before.
In the office of the principal of West City University, Liang Tianrui was furious.
"That student doesn't even have a medical license. Who does she think she is, speaking like this? Just because she has Lord Rong behind her, does she think she can say whatever she wants?"
Song Yan comforted Liang Tianrui. "The student only said a few words, she didn't do anything. Why are you so angry?"
Liang Tianrui said with a stern expression, "But she said you can't have children and insinuated that there's something wrong with our family. Our family cares about you so much, who would harm you? Isn't this sowing discord?"
"Yes, yes, no problem, don't worry," Song Yan reassured him.
But in her heart, Song Yan was calculating.
