Chapter 71: Rong Wuye Rescues Nan Huang

Chapter 71: Rong Wuye Rescues Nan Huang

The young man tossed his cigarette butt on the ground and then raised his gun towards Nan Huang.

Nan Huang's spirit tightened in an instant.

"Hey, what are you doing?" The crew-cut youth pushed the young man's hand away. "It's not easy to capture her, and the money hasn't been received yet. What are you doing? Didn't you say you want to stay alive?"

"Boss Luo changed her mind," the young man said. "She said only dead people won't compete with her."

"No!"

The young man raised his hand, and the gun barrel was pointed steadily at Nan Huang. But just as he was about to pull the trigger, a sudden appearance of a club struck the young man on the head, knocking him out cold.

Another person rushed to Nan Huang's side and quickly untied her.

Xie Wen, who had been tied to a chair, watched this scene with bewilderment. He couldn't believe that the people who had been their captors were now freeing them.

The crew-cut leader approached Nan Huang and asked, "Is 300,000 yuan okay?"

Nan Huang nodded.

The leader said, "30,000 yuan as a deposit. You can pay the rest after you leave. Go."

Nan Huang was about to make the payment when suddenly gunshots rang out from outside. Bullets flew in their direction.

Nan Huang dove forward, pushing Xie Wen to a safe spot. She rolled and, in the process, picked up a gun—the same gun that had belonged to the young man knocked out earlier.

Xie Wen's ropes were quickly untied. He was agitated and on the verge of tears. "Sister, it's so dangerous here. Why did you come?"

"Stay calm. Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Nan Huang asked.

Xie Wen shook his head. "I'm okay, sister."

Nan Huang sighed and rubbed her wrists. She listened to the gunfire outside and said, "I don't know what's happening outside, but I'll go check. Stay close to me."

Terrified, Xie Wen nodded in agreement.

The crew-cut leader and his men found a piece of metal sheeting to use as cover. Meanwhile, the young man who had been knocked out earlier was now lying dead amidst the hail of bullets.

"Boss, what should we do? She hasn't paid yet," one of the men asked.

The crew-cut leader clenched his gun. "Are we going to talk about money at a time like this, when our lives are at risk?"

"What's happening outside? It looks like a big gunfight," another man asked.

The crew-cut leader listened to the intense gunfire from outside, shivering.

"Boss, what should we do?" someone else asked.

After a moment's hesitation, the crew-cut leader made a decision. "We're not staying here any longer. Retreat!"

Nan Huang picked up a gun and went upstairs. The advantage of being in a building was that there were plenty of hiding spots. She went upstairs, found a window, and used it to survey the situation outside. She could see two groups of people engaged in a fierce firefight.

Calling them two groups wouldn't be accurate; one group had around a dozen people, and there were already several bodies lying on the ground. The other group consisted of just one person—Rong Wuye.

Nan Huang was shocked by what she saw, and then she became furious. "Nan Tuo!" She gritted her teeth as she spoke the middle-aged man's name.

Xie Wen asked in a low voice, "Sister, who is Nan Tuo?"

Nan Huang replied, "He's a lunatic." Nan Tuo was the current head of the Nan family and also the president of the Nan Corporation. She watched as he talked to Rong Wuye and couldn't help but feel a sense of dread.

Nan Tuo was the head of a hundred and twenty people standing on the opposite side. Over a hundred gun barrels were aimed at Rong Wuye. Was he really so confident that he could survive?

Rong Wuye's face turned cold. "Where's Ye Nan Huang?"

"Ye Nan Huang? She's dead," Nan Tuo replied.

"Dead?!" Nan Tuo's face showed a hint of surprise, then his eyes darkened, and a strange smile formed on his lips. "How did she die?"

Nan Tuo gestured by placing his hand like a gun to his own temple and mimicked pulling the trigger. "Bang…"

Rong Wuye's pupils slightly dilated.

Nan Tuo had a man brought over, a woman in her thirties. He looked at her with interest. "You probably don't know her, but you're about to. She's from the Luo family—Luo Qingmei. She had Ye Nan Huang abducted and then killed her."

Nan Tuo shook his head. "This has nothing to do with the Nan family."

Nan Huang, watching from the window, couldn't believe her eyes. She had suspected Luo Qingmei's involvement, but now it seemed that she was directly responsible for her abduction and murder.

Nan Tuo's refusal to take responsibility for the incident angered Nan Huang. She raised her gun and took aim at the window.

A red dot moved upward and landed on Rong Wuye's forehead. A sniper was targeting Rong Wuye from a high vantage point.

Nan Huang raised her gun and fired a shot, causing the sniper's aim to go awry. The bullet grazed Rong Wuye's shoulder.

Rong Wuye, in a split-second reaction, turned and looked towards Nan Huang.

Nan Huang urgently shouted, "Crazy man! Come over here!"

Nan Tuo's eyes widened, and he seemed momentarily stunned. However, he quickly recovered and turned without hesitation. He allowed himself to fall backward, and Nan Huang caught him, pulling him behind a wall.

Outside, all the bullets that had been aimed at Rong Wuye struck empty air.

Once they were safely behind the wall, Nan Huang threw away the empty gun. Rong Wuye tossed her two extra magazines and a spare gun from his waist.

Nan Huang quickly reloaded. Xie Wen watched the two of them in awe.

Both of them had faces blackened by gun smoke, their eyes shining with determination and ruthlessness. They were equally composed, equally calm, equally exuding a deadly aura.

There was no need for words; a single glance conveyed a thousand words between them.

"We need to break out of here," Nan Huang told Xie Wen. "Stay close to me."
