Chapter 72: Are You Trying to Pacify Me?

As the car pulled into the grapevine estate, a luxurious vehicle followed closely behind. Before the estate's staff could react, both cars had come to a halt. A man strode purposefully up the stairs, with a determined woman close behind.

Inside the bedroom, the man was about to close the door when the woman pointed a gun directly at his head.

"Step aside, I want to go in," said the woman solemnly.

The man, known as Rong Wuye, felt the pressure of the gun and took several steps back, creating some space. The woman approached the bedroom, kicked the door shut with her foot, and locked it.

"Rong Wuye, tell me, what do you want?" she demanded, keeping the gun pointed at him.

Rong Wuye looked at her, puzzled by her unusual approach. "Are you trying to pacify me with a gun?" he asked incredulously.

The woman lowered the gun and began searching the room. "I'm looking for your phone."

Rong Wuye watched her, still unsure of what was happening. "What are you searching for?"

"My phone," she replied, finally finding a phone in one of the drawers. It happened to be the same phone he had placed there for her.

She powered on the phone, and Rong Wuye continued to observe her, puzzled.

After unlocking the phone, she accessed the contacts and dialed his number. Rong Wuye, in a state of confusion, could only watch as she made the call.

"Yesterday until today, a full two days. I owe you six missed calls and forty text messages. Now, I'm returning your call," she said calmly.

Rong Wuye retrieved his phone from his pocket and answered her call. "This is Rong Wuye," he replied.

"Rong Wuye, it's me, Nan Huang," she said.

There was a moment of silence, and then Nan Huang continued, "Yesterday morning, I went to the city's garbage dump and met my mother and Uncle Qun. My mother said she wanted to adopt three children and asked if I agreed. I said yes. So now, I have three new younger brothers."

Nan Huang looked at him and said, "I'm very happy about it. I have younger brothers now. I've given them names: Xie Wen, Xie Liang, and Xie Qian. They're all very young and seem quite vulnerable."

After delivering this news, Nan Huang gazed into Rong Wuye's eyes, waiting for a response.

Rong Wuye remained silent, but his expression grew increasingly complex as he looked at her.

"Rong Wuye, I'm going to find your phone," Nan Huang said as she ended the call and returned the phone to its place.

Rong Wuye watched her actions with a mixture of surprise and intrigue. He couldn't quite comprehend what she was trying to achieve.

Then, the second call came through. Rong Wuye answered it again.

"Rong Wuye, it's me, Nan Huang," she said once more.

Rong Wuye listened intently.

"Last night, when I returned home alone, I opened my phone. I didn't feel like playing games; I wanted to play chess. But when I opened the Go game, I played three rounds, and the opponent named 'Wuye' never responded."

Nan Huang's voice grew softer, and she confessed, "I was not pleased."

With that, she ended the call again.

Rong Wuye was left in a state of bewilderment as he watched her actions and listened to her words.
