Dressed in a lace camisole nightgown, Nan Huang, with her slender fingers, gently lifted a nearby silver needle, lit an alcohol lamp, and sat in front of the dressing table, illuminating the mirror in front of her.
In that moment when the mirror lighted up, she felt a sudden dizziness.
The screeching of brakes, the intense glare hitting her eyes, the excruciating pain from her organs shifting, and the crushing pain all over her body.
And there were footsteps, hurried voices, as if someone was making an emergency call...
She felt surrounded.
Then, another stubborn memory rushed into her mind.
"Master... Master..."
"Feng..."
A face with the most beautiful, tender features she had ever seen slowly turned towards her, those pitch-black eyes seemed to penetrate her soul.
Nan Huang suddenly woke up, her heart racing.
"Ah, hah... ah, hah..."
She saw it again.
Even though she had died and come back to life, even though she had become someone else, couldn't she escape this nightmare?
Nan Huang pressed her throbbing heart, taking deep breaths to calm her restless blood.
After calming down, her lips grew even redder, and a cold smile played at the corners of her mouth as she laughed.
Then, another vivid memory came to her.
The caretaker's pleading voice, calling out to her.
"Master... Master..."
Nan Huang covered her ears, trying to block out the memories.
Then, her memory shifted to another scene. A young, beautiful woman's face appeared in her mind, with a gentle smile that contrasted sharply with the previous images.
Nan Huang suddenly felt a chill running down her spine.
She lowered her head, gasping for breath, trying to shake off the haunting memories.
After a while, she managed to regain her composure. She got up, turned to her dressing table, and picked up a silver needle, which she disinfected with an alcohol lamp. With delicate and precise movements, she traced a beautiful arc with the ice-cold needle and inserted it into the birthmark at the corner of her eye.
Her eyes remained calm and unemotional, as if the silver needle wasn't piercing her own skin.
As she continued, the birthmark at the corner of her eye began to fade at a visible speed until it was completely gone, leaving only a faint trace of red, like the glow of a setting sun, or the proud tail feathers of a fiery phoenix.
It was done.
Nan Huang stared at her reflection in the mirror for a while with a cold, distant gaze.
She then got up, turned to take a shower, and went to bed.
...
Nan Huang slept soundly through the night, and when she woke up, it was already quite late.
She quickly got dressed, and by the time she finished breakfast, it was almost 9:30 AM. She checked the time and realized that it was getting close to ten o'clock. With a determined look, she put on what she considered the perfect "heartless makeup" for the divorce proceedings and grabbed a small bag before heading downstairs.
When she arrived at the lobby, she realized that her car hadn't arrived yet, so she decided to wait. However, to her surprise, she saw a car parked in front of the stairs. Even more surprising was the driver, who turned out to be the same person who had driven her home last night, Jiang Xin, the manager of the Rongshi Central Plaza.
"Mr. Jiang?" Nan Huang greeted him, both surprised and not surprised.
Jiang Xin rolled down the car window, his young face wearing a smile as he greeted her, "Miss Ye, what a coincidence."
"It is quite a coincidence," Nan Huang replied curiously. "What brings Mr. Jiang here?"
Jiang Xin suddenly looked embarrassed and chuckled, "I just thought this was a good place to park..."
Nan Huang was speechless and turned to leave.
Jiang Xin quickly started the car and caught up with her. "Miss Ye, is everything done?"
Nan Huang hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Not yet."
Jiang Xin had heard a bit about the situation with Mr. Bao, the CEO of the Bao Group, so he had a vague idea of what Nan Huang might be up to. He also noticed that Mr. Bao hadn't arrived yet.
"Miss Ye, where would you like to go next?"
Nan Huang didn't mince words and ordered him, "To the West City garbage dump and then to Xie's Green Culture and Environmental Protection Company."
Chapter 8, Continued:
Nan Huang, still dressed in her nightgown, her slender fingers gently lifted the silver needle by her side, lit an alcohol lamp, and sat down in front of the dressing table, lighting up the mirror in front of her.
As the light in the mirror illuminated her face, Nan Huang suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.
Screeching brakes, blinding headlights bearing down on her, the intense impact, the excruciating pain as her internal organs shifted, and the crushing pain that seemed to obliterate her entire body.
And then, the sounds of footsteps, anxious voices, as if someone was making an emergency call...
She felt surrounded and trapped.
Suddenly, another memory, vivid and unwelcome, forcefully intruded into her mind.
"Master... Master..."
"Feng..."
The face of a young, incredibly beautiful woman turned towards her, a face she had seen in her dreams countless times. Those pitch-black eyes seemed to pierce through her soul.
Nan Huang was jolted awake, her heart racing.
"Ah, ha... ah, ha..."
It was happening again.
Even though she had died and come back to life, even though she had become someone else, this nightmare seemed to haunt her relentlessly.
Nan Huang pressed a hand to her pounding heart, taking deep breaths to calm the turbulent rush of emotions.
After the storm subsided, Nan Huang's lips curved into a bitter smile. She couldn't help but laugh.
Then, yet another haunting memory flooded her mind.
"The master... the master..."
Nan Huang's voice was filled with longing and sorrow as she recalled that voice from the past.
But she couldn't dwell on it. Another memory rushed in, more vivid and painful than the last.
"Master... Master..."
Nan Huang felt a chill run down her spine as she remembered that face, that tender smile, and the feeling of warmth that had once filled her heart.
She lowered her head, her breaths coming in rapid succession as she tried to shake off the memories that threatened to consume her.
After a moment of struggle, Nan Huang managed to regain her composure. She got up, walked over to her dressing table, and picked up a silver needle, which she sterilized with an alcohol lamp. With a skilled and steady hand, she traced a graceful arc, and the cold silver needle pierced the birthmark at the corner of her eye.
Her eyes remained calm and detached, as if the needle's touch didn't affect her at all.
As she continued to work, the birthmark at the corner of her eye began to fade at a visible pace until it disappeared completely, leaving only a faint, almost imperceptible trace of red, like the hues of a sunset, or the proud tail feathers of a fiery phoenix.
It
was done.
Nan Huang stared at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes void of emotion.
She stood up, turned, and headed for the bathroom to take a shower before finally getting into bed.

Jiang Xin rolled down the car window, a young man's smile on his face as he greeted her. "Miss Ye, what a coincidence."
"It's quite a coincidence," Nan Huang replied with curiosity. "What brings Mr. Jiang here?"
Jiang Xin suddenly looked a bit embarrassed and chuckled. "I just thought it was a convenient place to park..."
Nan Huang couldn't help but be speechless, but she turned to leave.
