Chapter 88: Rumors of Special Treatment

The elderly gentlemen in the group looked tense.

Leading the way, Senior Sister Jiang, a master of the medical association, carefully scrutinized Nan Feng from head to toe, then turned to look at Lord Rongwu, bowing respectfully, "Lord Rong, of course, has the qualifications to recommend someone."

Lord Rongwu raised an eyebrow and walked forward. "I personally brought her in."

Jiang Li said, "This lady needs to register." She gestured to a staff member. "Take her."

Lord Rongwu followed behind Nan Feng.

Jiang Li said, "Lord Rong, the VIP registration is this way."

Lord Rongwu smiled faintly. "It's just a registration. I'm going with her."

Seeing Lord Rongwu was really protective of this girl, no one dared to stop him, so they let him and Nan Feng register together. As a result, the group accompanying Nan Feng for registration became quite large.

Jiang Li watched Nan Feng's back and furrowed her brows.

So many people following her, couldn't this woman advise Lord Rong?

Is it intentional?

After Nan Feng filled out the registration with a beautiful, neat handwriting, the staff nervously collected her papers.

Lord Rongwu stood next to her with his hands in his pockets, still looking defiant.

After completing all this, Nan Feng sincerely asked Jiang Li, "What do I need to do next?"

Jiang Li said, "Just wait."

Lord Rongwu leaned in close to Nan Feng, lowered his head slightly, and smirked, seeking praise. "How was that? I got it done for you."

It was indeed done.

Nan Feng glanced at Jiang Li with a slight sneer.

But she couldn't help but feel that it had brought her some other troubles.

Lord Rongwu and Nan Feng went to the waiting room together. Nan Feng picked up her phone and started playing with it. Lord Rongwu leaned back, his long legs crossed, looking like he didn't want to talk. However, his eyes occasionally fell on Nan Feng.

After a while, Jiang Li brought fruit and tea and sat on the other side of Lord Rongwu.

Nan Feng glanced at the empty seat next to her, then at the distance between her and Jiang Feng, furrowing her brows slightly. "Miss Jiang, when do I take the assessment?"

Jiang Li said, "Miss Ye doesn't need to take the first round of tests. I've already informed them to let Miss Ye pass the first round."

Lord Rongwu didn't pay much attention to these matters. He lazily said, "Hmm," and continued to watch Nan Feng.

"I don't need to take the first round?" Nan Feng asked in surprise. "What is the first round of testing about?"

Jiang Li finally looked up at Nan Feng. "It's the identification of basic medicinal herbs. The medical association has strict standards, and you need to get eighty percent of the questions correct to pass. Miss Ye is exempt from this difficult test. Congratulations."

Congratulations? Was it really a congratulations?

Nan Feng thought she could pass the first round without any problems. But they skipped her first test. Did it save her trouble or add trouble?

Nan Feng said, "Miss Jiang, you're too kind."

Jiang Li sliced an apple with her own hands and handed it to Lord Rongwu. "Lord Rong, have some fruit."

Lord Rongwu, with his usual cold expression, said, "No need."

After casually saying that, he continued to gaze at Nan Feng.

Nan Feng asked, "What's the next round of testing about?"

"Written test. You have to pass the written test before the practical test." Jiang Li didn't think there was anything wrong with Lord Rongwu's refusal. She took the apple back and put it on the tray. "Do you want me to give you the written test questions?"

Nan Feng raised her head and looked at her with a sly gaze. "Can the medical association cheat like this?"

Jiang Li said, "No, it's not allowed. But with Lord Rongwu's support, there should be no problem in securing a spot in the medical association."

Nan Feng's lips curved into a smile. "I always thought that members of the medical association were all truly talented."

Jiang Li looked at her with displeasure. "After all, with Lord Rongwu's support, it's no surprise that you have an exception. Under normal circumstances, of course, all members are truly talented."

Nan Feng lightly chuckled. "Miss Jiang, please make sure to handle this assessment fairly and openly. I, Ye Nan Feng, have come this far relying on my own abilities. I don't want to rely on any underhanded methods."

Jiang Li looked up at her, her expression worsening slightly.

Nan Feng didn't want to say anything more to Jiang Li. She turned to Lord Rongwu and said, "I want to eat some fruit."

Lord Rongwu's face broke into a smile, and he snapped out of his lazy state. He asked, "Which one do you want?"

"An apple."

"I'll peel it for you."

He unbuttoned his cuffs, rolled them up slightly, revealing his perfectly toned forearm. He sat up straight, his body slightly leaning forward, and brought the plate of fruit and a fruit knife over, peeling it seriously.

Jiang Li's eyes were filled with surprise. "Lord Rongwu, how can you use your hands to peel an apple? I already peeled one here."

Lord Rongwu's face remained cold and firm, and he replied matter-of-factly, "My little thing, of course, should eat what I feed her."

After glaring at Nan Feng and gritting her teeth, Jiang Li stood up and walked away.

Lord Rongwu was skilled with the knife, and he peeled the apple without a single interruption. After he finished, Nan Feng took the apple from his hands and took a bite. It was crisp.

Watching Jiang Li walk away, Nan Feng asked Lord Rongwu, "Do you know Jiang Li from the medical association?"

"I know her," Lord Rongwu replied.

"Who is she?" Nan Feng asked.

"She's Cheng Jiang's disciple, the head of the West City Medical Association. I lived at the Cheng family's house for a while when I was young and had a few conversations with her," Lord Rongwu said. "What's the matter with her?"

Nan Feng thought for a moment and said, "She might have a grudge against me."

"She has a grudge against you?"

Nan Feng furrowed her brows. "Don't you believe me?"

Lord Rongwu saw that she was clearly displeased and immediately became more alert. "I'm not saying I don't believe you. It's just that I give a lot of money to the West City Medical College every year. I can be considered their benefactor for clothing and food. Why would she hold a grudge against you? She doesn't have any special skills other than some medical knowledge, and she doesn't have any powerful background except for her status as a disciple of the medical association."

He added with a puzzled expression,

"She's so weak, how could she hold a grudge against you?"

"...Is it just me, or is your thought process so strange?" An expert in medical knowledge and a senior sister of the medical association, and he considered her weak?

"Muyun is not strong either, she's delicate and weak. But she took away my ex-husband."

Lord Rongwu's face changed dramatically. "Why bring up your ex-husband for no reason?"

"Do you really think so?" Lord Rongwu saw that Nan Feng's expression was completely serious, so he took it seriously. "I understand now, I'll be careful."

The first round of testing was not slow, and the second round of testing was about to begin. Lord Rongwu couldn't accompany her for the second round. He was asked to leave the waiting area.

Nan Feng watched one candidate after another enter the waiting area for the second round of testing.

She was not surprised to see Mu Yun.

Mu Yun, who had passed the first round of testing smoothly, walked over and looked at Nan Feng in astonishment. She looked around and, not seeing Lord Rongwu, relaxed. She approached and said, "Sister Ye, I didn't see you in the first round of testing. I thought you weren't planning to take it, but I didn't expect to see you here."

She asked softly, "Did Sister participate directly in the second round of testing?"

Nan Feng didn't say anything. Mu Yun turned and looked envious. "Sister is amazing! Sister is truly charming. Not only has Brother Boshen fallen head over heels for you, but there's also another man who's treating you so well, even helping you skip the difficult first round of testing. How did Sister do it? Can you teach me?"

Mu Yun's words were not quiet, and several candidates who had just entered and heard her words looked at the two of them.

"I really didn't see this person in the first round of testing."

"I heard that someone got special treatment to enter the medical association this year."

"Is the back door really that wide open?"

"Is the medical association going to directly reserve a spot this year? There aren't many spots to begin with, and if they reserve one, it will be even harder."

"You never know. Someone with a good-looking face might have some advantages. What can we do?"

The first bird gets shot, and Nan Feng knew that gaining convenience always came with a price.

Who knows if Jiang Li's help in securing this "convenience" was intentional?
